Your first session in Build an Army
Barracks, infantry, damage, Deploy — and why the first sergeant ends the run.
Your first session in Build an Army should be short, cheap, and slightly embarrassing. The game is already live — LiveForFun shipped it on 7 August 2025 as a free Roblox tycoon (place 76904351006435) on four-player servers — so you are not waiting for a launch. You are walking into a barracks, buying the starter infantry soldier, and learning that a sergeant does not care about your enthusiasm.
This page is the first hour, not a full systems manual. For the repeating loop, use How to Play. For camera and buttons, use Controls. For the shop as a spend puzzle, use the Barracks Guide.
Join a live four-player server
Open Build an Army on Roblox and join. You will land on a server with up to three other people. Treat that as shared instance space, not an invitation to raid someone else’s army. Your job is your barracks and your lane.
Find the barracks shop before you mash every on-screen prompt. If you cannot see it, rotate the camera (right mouse on PC, drag on mobile) and walk the starting area. The shop is the heart of the tycoon; everything else is a consequence of what you buy there.
Do not hunt for a codes button first. As of September 2026 this LiveForFun title has no widely confirmed public promo codes. Anything copied from Build ur Army or Make a Army will not save the first march. The empty list lives on Codes.
Buy infantry, then spend on damage
The starter unit is an infantry soldier. Buy it. Place it. Then stop shopping for “more guys” until you have spent on damage.
Footage of early runs is consistent: damage upgrades are the main early investment. Extra un-upgraded infantry looks like an army and dies like a tutorial. Early enemies include sergeants that melt weak infantry. If your line is all default soldiers with default damage, the sergeant is not a boss fight. It is a delete key.
The barracks will keep offering more bodies because that is what tycoon shops do. Your first cash should still go into making the soldiers you already placed hit harder. Details and the later spend order belong in the Barracks Guide. When rarer silhouettes finally show up, How to Unlock Units covers how the roster grows without inventing names.
First deploy
Placing troops is not the same as sending them. After the infantry is down, use Deploy so the army marches a lane. Income in this game is not a mailbox you tap; it is distance plus combat. The line has to walk, fight, and survive long enough for cash to matter.
Watch the first march instead of alt-tabbing. You want to see how far the infantry get, what they bump into, and whether the sergeant contact is instant. If the HUD also shows Undeploy, remember it exists — pulling a living army back is part of the loop later, not a fail state. How to Play unpacks that cycle.
If the first deploy ends in a wipe, that is the intended lesson, not a broken server. Rebuild. Do not assume the game is paywalled because one sergeant won.
Why you died
Weak infantry versus sergeants is the usual first death. You deployed a default line into an ambush the official description already warns about: survive enemy ambushes, conquer new lands. The lands come later. The ambush is now.
Other early failures look similar from the camera:
- You bought more infantry instead of damage, so the sergeant still one-sided the fight.
- You never deployed, so you stood in the shop while nothing marched.
- You deployed, died, and logged out, which means offline earnings had nothing alive to keep fighting.
Nuke! is a public gamepass labeled OP at 7,214 Robux. It is not the beginner recovery plan. Sprint Permanent is offsale, so do not hunt the shop for a sprint toggle as your “fix.” Recover with barracks cash, not a panic gamepass.
What to do next
After one wipe and one successful short march, you are done with onboarding. Next cash goes into damage until the sergeant contact is no longer a joke, then into extra infantry that can actually use that damage. Keep an eye on how far the lane goes. A volcano-looking region shows up later on the march; it is a landmark, not a first-session tourist stop.
Before you quit, leave a living, deployed army if you want official offline pay. A wiped lane earns nothing while you are away — that rule is the entire offline earnings page.
When you come back, skip this article and open How to Earn Money plus the Tier List. Use Players when you need role language instead of a fake named roster. Patch requests go on the LiveForFun group wall; summaries belong on Updates. Client-side tools are a separate, risky topic on Scripts.
Second session checklist
Confirm infantry is replaced if the last run died. Confirm at least one damage spend landed. Confirm you can find Deploy without panic. Confirm you will not log out on a wiped lane. That is the whole beginner contract — not a 15-row shop, not a code, not a 7,214 Robux nuke.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What should I buy first in the barracks?
The starter infantry soldier, then damage upgrades. Extra un-upgraded bodies lose to early sergeants. See the Barracks Guide.
Why did my first army die so fast?
Early sergeants melt weak infantry. Deploying a default line without damage spends is the usual wipe. Rebuild using How to Play.
Is Deploy the same as placing troops?
No. Place from the barracks, then Deploy to march a lane. Undeploy exists as a separate control. Button layout is on Controls.
Should I buy the Nuke! gamepass to recover?
No. Nuke! is a 7,214 Robux OP pass, not a first-session tool. Recover with barracks cash. Read How to Earn Money.
Can I redeem a code to skip the first hour?
Not from any confirmed public list as of September 2026. Ignore codes from similarly named games. The honest page is Codes.
Will my army keep earning if I quit after a wipe?
No. Offline pay needs a living deployed army. Set that up with Offline Earnings before you leave.
